The Chicago Federation of Labor (CFL) has endorsed Trisha Chokshi in the race for Mount Prospect Mayor in the April 1st Consolidated Election. The CFL, which was first established in 1896, represents 300 affiliated unions and over 500,000 union members in Cook County, including in Mount Prospect.

Trisha's Statement Regarding the Endorsement:
The Chicago Federation of Labor has been on the frontlines when it comes to protecting workers and I’m honored to have their endorsement. My father served as a municipal engineer in public works for 40 years and he was a proud AFSCME union member. Growing up in a union home, I saw firsthand the important role unions have in protecting the rights of workers. I have been working on issues that help improve the lives of working families my entire adult life, and I’ve done so across public, private, and non-profit sectors. The CFL’s support reflects that shared commitment and recognizes that I will be a voice for working families in our Village government.
In recent years, the Village of Mount Prospect has faced notable labor and employment litigation and the village’s own unions have been vocal in their concerns about certain operations. At its core, local government is here to provide residents with the most basic essential services, such as public safety, emergency response, and public works. We need a strong, positive working relationship with our unions to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents, as well as the workers and first responders providing those services. Clearly, there is work to be done when it comes to strengthening those relationships. Positive engagement with our unions and bringing them into the governing process helps improve the services we provide to our residents.
